The Thai New Year (Song Kran) traditionally brings families and friends together to celebrate by visiting temples, offering the meal, making donations, and hearing the teachings. This festive occasion is also known as a time for sprinkling water on Buddha images or monks in reverence, asking forgiveness of the Triple Gem and our elders. Sprinkling water on each other’s hands is also seen as wishing good luck and giving/receiving blessings.
This year, funds are being collected for an exciting project! Your donation will go toward creating a beautiful new bronze Buddharupa (statue) to grace the new Dhamma hall. This 65-inch-tall, 3000-pound statue will be cast in Thailand and shipped to Abhayagiri. (To learn more about the planned new reception building and Dhamma hall, visit the “News” page at Abhayagiri.org.)
